Mr & Mrs Fitzpatrick, Druids Glen Resort

Susan and Owen tied the knot on 7th June 2013, followed by a stunning reception at Druids Glen Resort, Co Wicklow. The sun shone, the champagne flowed - it was the perfect wedding...

How it All Started...
"Owen and I met through a mutual friend who I travelled with in Australia. I don't think either me or Owen had expected to meet someone, but we clicked immediately. I remember thinking 'I know I'll see this guy again, although we didn't get together straight away as Owen played hard to get for a couple of years, but we eventually hit it off and have never looked back! Owen has given me everything I always wanted and even the things I didn't think I wanted like being married, so our wedding day was very emotional for us both."

The Planning...
"We originally wanted to have our wedding abroad in the South of France but one visit to the Druids Glen 5 star resort in Wicklow and our minds were changed by the idyllic surroundings of the resort. We had our own personal wedding planner Neasa and she couldn't have been more helpful - I can safely say Neasa could plan a wedding in her sleep. The planning itself was intense as we had only 3 months to do everything. Luckily Owen was so amazing as I unfortunately am missing the bride gene, but thankfully we worked well together."

"We chose Absolute flowers in Celbridge, Owen's mother kindly made our wedding cake and our wedding topper was a fishing theme, as we have a mutual interest. Our table favours were very close to our hearts as they were in memory of my dad who passed away and couldn't be with us on the day, so we made a donation to the Irish Heart Foundation who made scrolls for each place at the table. It was a really special part of the wedding and very easy to organise with the IHF. My wedding dress was a Victoria Jane which looked fabulous on and was really comfortable to dance in - an extremely important factor on your day of course."

"Our photographer Ken O Halleran of KOH.com was absolutely fantastic - a really cool guy to work with. We never even knew he was there, he took the most amazing shots, he truly is a talented photographer."

The Ceremony...
"We had a church ceremony, our priest was a lovely guy who guided us through the nerves. Our singer was Aisling Connolly and she was stunning, we had some unconventional songs including Mumford and Sons which she made her own with no consulting at all, she really is very talented."

Top Tip for Brides to Be
"Even when things go wrong as they tend to do, relax and embrace it because they will be the very things you will laugh at and remember for years to come - like forgetting the rings and being married with your mother in laws wedding ring!!"
