The 21st Century is no stranger to alternative dating strategies, with more and more people using dating websites, apps and evenings out to meet partners they can be compatible with these days. And with the rise in popularity of social media, it's not surprising that Twitter and Facebook are to thank for several (hundred, probably) weddings every year.
However, it's someone else's turn to steal the limelight for its matchmaking abilities - and this is Instagram.
The picture-sharing website could become the new way to meet your partner, as it allows you to befriend people, and interact with friends of friends, much like other social networks.
One couple who have tied the knot as a result of 'meeting' on Instagram is designer Ashley Hicks and 34-year-old American fashionista Katalina de Sollis, with the pair being introduced to one another by mutual friend illustrator Donald Robertson in May this year.

The 52-year-old - who also happens to be the godson of Prince Philip and Prince Charles' second cousin - met his bride just one month after he started interacting with Kata on the site, and they walked down the aisle just three months later.
Despite such short notice, they managed to get a celeb-filled wedding, with the likes of Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie and shoe designer Christian Louboutin turning up.
As you'd expect, the couple shared pictures of their wedding at Hicks' Oxfordshire home on Instagram, using the hashtag #ashleykatahooha.
